Happy New Year – and article in Organic Broadcaster
Happy New Year, all! I hope the first few days of 2015 have been enjoyable for you, and that the gradually increasing daylength is proving restorative. I’ve been very glad to see the sun in recent days.
The Organic Broadcaster for January-February 2015 is now available on the MOSES website, and I hope you may have time to read the article I contributed about ongoing organic potato research at UW-Madison. It includes some updates on our findings from on-farm research, as well as overviews of future research ideas. I would love to hear your ideas for future organic potato research. What would help your potato crops? Do you think the research ideas in the article are good? What would you change?
As many of you know, our research focuses on organic potato production in the Upper Midwest, with an emphasis on real-world on-farm trials. I appreciate the fact that so many great farmers are willing to work with us to try our new varieties and methods. A lot of useful information has come out of the last two years of trials, and I will be sharing that here on the blog over the next few weeks, and also at the Organic Farming Conference in La Crosse, Wisconsin this February. Next week I want to describe the research questions that we will be focusing on this coming summer – it’s never too early to start planning, and I am hoping that some of you will have ideas and suggestions. So please stop back next week! Till then – stay warm.
Ruth
